...just made you say, "YEAH!!!"?

Well, when I first started riding with Walter guys, we'd always stop at Washington Intermediate. Anyway, I had my Redline clone at the time, a Shimano. They were all practicing rollback 540's, the trick to do at the time, thanks to Mike Buff and R.L. Osborn of BMX Action fame. Everyone had a hard time doing it. Me, living on a hill, I could nail that trick about...oh, 90% of the time, so when I did it, they all had straight face! Except this guy named Tyson, kinda long hair, and had a smooth style. He was like, "No way!!!" because I was a "nobody" still, and had to prove that I could hang with them. He kept trying and trying...he just couldn't do it.Tongue Hmmmmm, maybe it was my OS Haro two finger brake levers that gave me the "edge"? LOL!!!

Another time, we were all in the parking lot of The Bike Shop. I think it was Walter or Barry trying to do a bunny hop 360. Now, in a previous thread, I mentioned I was pretty good at bronco's...I could never do a "true bunny hop" too high. I remember facing a parking sign, broncoing, and twisting as hard as I could. When I landed I was facing the sign!!! Sometimes, it wasn't a true 360...by that I mean we would do a partial turn, and air the rest of it, making it a 270...but I was like, "YEAH!!!" Barry tried, Walter tried, and they couldn't do it. Hee-heee-HEEEEE!!!

Not bragging, just that I think I was proving worthy to ride with these crazy guys...

So how about your trick(s) that made you say, "YEAH!!!" when ya stuck it?Wink

Cool stories man. I was a dirt jumper, purely. My only BMX dirt trick was a bunnyhop 360. I could rock-walk too.

Now I did try a little freestyle later in life and my best and favorite flatland trick was a flail rolling boomerang. I could pull a fire hydrant too. But the flail boomerang, rolling.. the first time I pulled it was alone inside the UH parking lot, by the track and UH pool. There is a multi-level parking lot there, smooth and big. And mostly alone there.

Nailed it, yeah! Gets a bit easier after that..

AHHHHHH, rock walks...I almost did a face plant last week doing those!!! I swear, I SO need to get used to geometry of these "new BMX freestyle bikes".

"Flail Rolling Boomerang"...is that a boomerang while rolling on the front wheel? I always locked my front brake doing those...Sad Also, ya got me on a "Fire Hydrant"...???

Good day Slingshot!

Ya, the boom is done rolling on the front, well, both wheels of course. I learned locking the front brakes, later on found it easier to roll on it, thus flail..

The hydrant uses front pegs.. not well, that trick. I sucked, really.

Haha.. oh well, suck it up I supposeSmile

Yo P!!!

Awwww screw that...no way I am gonna try an "unlocked" Boomerang until I get some Lizard Skinz shin guards from a guy I know who is still active in BMX.Rolleyes I'll be flailing alright...all over the ground in pain!

So...fire hydrant is a boomerang done on the pegs?

Hey, ya remember the one where you turn your bars at a 90, stand on the left fork peg, and you grab your right grip AND the nose of the seat...then with your right foot, you "kick" on the front wheel (like you are pushing a skateboard) and just go in circles...then when all was balanced right, ya lifted the rear with the right hand, still gripping the end of the right grip and nose of the seat, give one hard "kick", and the back end would spin around off the ground?

THAT MY FRIEND IS CALLED A SIDE GLIDE....WHEN YOU LIFT THE REAR WHEEL HOLDING THE GRIP/SEAT AND GLIDE BACKWARDS.
WHEN I COULD BARRIDE FOREVER!!! THATS WAS A HELL YEAH!!! Big Grin
Hi Guys,

My Favorite trick ever was and still is the G-Turn. First time I saw it was on some bootleg freestyle video at a friend's house, Adam Jung was riding a trick star in the video and when I saw him do the G-Turn I knew I HAD to learn that trick....been my favorite ever since....

Here is a pic of me doing a G-Turn....start off rolling at a good speed, do a 180 but turn deeper, tap and quickly release front brakes while almost ompleting 180, keep bars forward leaning into front, roll out backwards in a circle on front wheel....hope to have a video of this up soon.

And not trying to show off but here is a vid I took of when I just started riding again recently, first trick is a fire hydrant into cherrypicker. Then I tried to do a decade twice but my rear brakes kept slipping. (Sorry for the crappy quality, this was taken with a cell phone)...just open link and click on the video:
